Capital Tour By Tuk Tuk · Fort, Pettah and Galle Face, Colombo

Colombo by tuk-tuk

A private tuk-tuk and driver-guide take you through Fort, the Pettah markets, Hindu and Buddhist temples and Galle Face Green, then stop for rice and curry at a local place. It's the most-reviewed tour in Colombo, and the best way to see the city in half a day.

Colombo Tuk-Tuk City Tour with a Meal

About this experience

Capital Tour By Tuk Tuk runs this as a private tour, morning or late afternoon. The driver picks you up anywhere in Colombo 1 to 15, or you meet at the Galle Face Hotel. Cruise passengers meet at the Colombo Lighthouse, 20 metres from the port gate, since tuk-tuks can't park at the entrance.

The route covers a lot in four hours: the Sri Kailawasanathan kovil, the Fort railway station, the Old Town Hall, the Pettah markets, the Dutch church at Wolvendaal, Port City, the lighthouse, the maritime museum, Gangaramaya temple, Independence Memorial Hall and a tea tasting at Zylen. Water, an umbrella, entry fees and lunch or dinner are included. The guest favourite is the meal, rice and curry or kottu at a place full of locals.

The one fee not included is the Lotus Tower, USD 20 for a foreign adult if you want to go up. The tea stop is a shop. And note one no-show: in May 2026 a cruise guest waited at the pickup, couldn't reach the operator and went back to the ship. With 871 reviews at 4.9, it's rare, but save the WhatsApp number.

  • Lunch or dinner at a local restaurant included
  • Entry fees included (Lotus Tower aside)
  • Pettah market, Gangaramaya and the Fort area

What guests say

★★★★★

Excellent way to see the main sights of Colombo and be part of the action. My driver/guide tailored the experience to fit my limited mobility. I appreciated the include rice and curry lunch at a small place I would never have found myself.

This tour was the perfect introduction to Colombo on our first day in the city. [...] To top it off, we finished with dinner of the best chicken kottu roti I had on the entire trip.

Ricky was an excellent tour guide. Knowledgeable, polite, and extremely considerate of our surroundings as I was travelling alone. If you’re a solo woman traveller and looking for a tour in and around Colombo, go for this one. Hands down!

Ramesh was an excellent guide with great local knowledge, knew his history and explained everything well. Due to Ramesh's local contacts he was able to expedite our access to the Lotus Tower.

Tips before you book

  • Pick the late-afternoon slot in hot months. The meal becomes dinner and Galle Face Green fills up at sunset.
  • Cruise passengers: walk to the Colombo Lighthouse, 3 minutes from the port gate, to meet your driver.
  • Wear something that covers your shoulders and knees for the temples and the mosque.
  • Save the operator's WhatsApp. One guest in 2026 waited for a driver who never came.
  • Ask for a mild version if you don't eat spicy food.
